WHY GUCCI IS THE MOST LOVED AND DESIRED BRAND

Gucci is one of the top luxury brands in the world . Why Gucci is so desired can't really be put into words. First and foremost Gucci is loved by the fashion community! Therefore fashionista's ,fashion editors, and fashion merchandisers are all mad for Gucci. Since 2015 when Alessandro Michele took the reigns this brand has been on a meteoric rise. Hence the luxury fashion market is expanding every day . Accordingly the Gucci label is only second to Louis Vuitton as the worlds most influential luxury fashion brands for 2017.Color

GUCCI – The Italian fashion and leather goods house was founded in 1921 in Florence. Gucci was founded in Florence in 1921, by Guccio Gucci. Today Gucci is part of the Gucci Group and is owned by Kering, a French company mostly known as PPR.

WHY IS GUCCI ONE OF MY PERSONAL FAVORITES ?

Darlings if you are looking for minimalism Gucci is not for you. In my opinion this brand might better be described as maximum-ism . Since my background is as a theatrical costume designer, I love and appreciate the work of Alessandro Michel . While Alessandro takes some liberties with fashion history his incredible gift is to make life theatrical. Since color and pattern are among the strongest theatrical design elements , this answers my question of why Gucci is the most loved and desired brand. First people relate to his out of the ordinary color palette. Second the references to the past are a great attraction. Therefore we see Alessandro play with the silhouettes of the sixties and especially the shapes and patterns of the seventies. Hence these are some of the reasons I love Gucci .

Furthermore I loved playing dress-up as a kid and as an adult . Therefore Gucci speaks to that fantasy world of dress-up . In fact playing among the old dresses and hats of my mother and great auntie was a highlight of my childhood. Of course I'm not alone with this feeling many of us fashion lovers were born in the treasures of the attic.

1) CHILD-LIKE FANTASY

We all have that playful child inside us and sometimes expressing it is great ! For this reason we love that child like fantasy of Gucci. Furthermore we love Michele for designing pieces that cause childhood reversion: cartoon animals, flying saucers ,shooting stars , hearts and bows.

Moreover it is not just the visual representations that give us this childhood feel. In that same way the use of long haired fur , sequins , brocades and marabou feathers give rise to our childish curiosity.

2) GLITTER GLITTER GLITTER

Michele's Gucci is plastered in glitter .Strangely enough it's built into the very structure of the Gucci fantasy. In my opinion darlings it's this use of glitter that lifts the brand to it's dazzling heights.

The sparkles heightens the enchantment of the products. Hence with Alessandro's proclivity for streetwear silhouettes: bomber jackets, vintage store-esque baggy sweaters,- all gilded with shimmering details that lift them out of reality.

3) FLORA AND FAUNA

Actually the starting points for the A/W 2017 “Alchemist’s Garden” collection was Gucci’s legendary “Flora” scarf. Originally hand-painted by Vittorio Accornero in 1966 as a special gift from Rodolfo Gucci to Princess Grace, it features 43 different kinds of flowers, herbs, and insects. Michele’s ever-increasing insectarium collects together dragonflies, beetles, ants, bees, ladybugs, moths, and butterflies. By the same token is a long time connection to fauna like cats and dogs and all the way to snakes and mystical animals like dragons. Since the beginning Gucci's famous horse-bit icon drew from the passion for horseback riding among its Italian aristocrat customers. By the same token Gucci's fans and customers love the brands connections to the natural world.

ECCENTRICITY

Darlings people like and praise eccentrics. Since fashion began there has been a place for the eccentric. In fact many of our greatest fashion designers and fashion icons are eccentric. In my opinion Gucci answers our desire to be unique , different, eccentric . For this reason Gucci is so successful , people fall in love with the unique and different looks of Alessandro Michele. I imagine that eccentric aunts closet , those wonderful colors, embroidery, scarves and hats all together. Ultimately Gucci brings out the eccentricity in all of us .
