THE 1980'S ARE BACK - WHAT A FEELING
The 1980's are the biggest fashion trend of 2017. While it has been the 1970's that has fueled the fashion industry's retro gene, the 1980's are now back .While the last few seasons we saw a glimpse into the 1980's now that glimpse has now become the main event.
Retail analytic firms do huge international studies to determine trends and micro trends. Since they are the experts we'll take their word when they say " the 1980's will be huge." Therefore what are the 1980's trends all about.
Pop culture, yuppies ,power dressing and glam define the 1980's.Hence John Hughes films , MTV video's and flashdance shoulders will be hot again . Therefore the fan's of Thriller, shoulder pads , and Jane Fonda workout's will have something to celebrate. It seems like metallic's , see thru layers. and huge button's will be back.
Most of all the 1980's were one of the most experimental periods in fashion history. The 1980's gave us some of our most enduring fashion icon's. From Princess Diana to Madonna, Joan Collins to Boy George the 1980's were colorful. Clothes were used to define personalities and make big statements. Shoulder pads reached for the skies courtesy of Lady Di and the cast of Dynasty. Flamboyant pop stars like Culture club ,Cindy Lauper , and Madge created their own artistic looks . Most noteworthy the 1980's gave us pop culture on steroids.
Therefore it's time to look at those trends from the 1980's that we will relive this spring/summer season. If you weren't yet born in the 1980's or have put it out of mind, what are these big revivals.

For spring/summer 2017 the runways have been full of designers paying homage to the 80's.Think metallics , disco leggings and the one shoulder dress-the 80's is back.This is pure night-time attire - short minis and neon spandex .Therefore let it be said it's not for the shy types.

In Conclusion
I lived through the 1980s , and my only comment on the fashion is that it is often better the 2nd time around . I love the looks that are here , the Saint Laurent pieces are my favorites. The disco lights of the 80s may have dimmed, but I have confidence that these great looks will not . Ciao for now Jandrew
