WINTER COATS; WHAT TO LOOK FOR.

Darlings it is now October and  for many of us winter is just around the corner. While we all try to extend summer as long as we can winter is inevitable. Since many of us live in climates that are cold during winter, winter coats are a staple in many wardrobes. However making a choice is not always easy, and choosing a winter coat for all your needs may not be reasonable.

In fact darlings you may want to do a bit of an assessment of what you need before you start shopping. Since you may already have some classic coats in your wardrobe you may want to add certain styles . In my opinion for a winter climate  you may need a larger variety of winter coats.

WINTER COATS FOR FALL/WINTER 2017-18

Every season, we see the reinvention of the coat. While last year designers focused on military style jackets and capes, for autumn/winter 2017, key designer houses like Balenciaga,Max Mara, Valentino and Proenza Schouler and others focused on seven key styles -trenches,classic wool coat, puffers(still going strong) shearling, vinly, faux fur (a classic) and ski jackets. Darlings I've broken down the coats by category and hope you find something you love ! 

WINTER COATS- TRENCHES

The trench coat is coming in strong for 2017. Fashion houses like Prada, Maison Margiela, and of course Burberry championed the classic shape in their autumn winter collections. In my opinion a trench is a staple item for every wardrobe . Therefore I have selected some classic trenches and some unconventional ones for your selection.

WINTER COATS- PUFFERS

Puffers were a huge trend last year, but this year there's far more choice. From long-length puffers to duvet-worthy styles and hoods, make sure to update your puffer for the new season.

WINTER COAT- VINYL

There's a lot to love about the vinyl trend. Once you get past the initial dominatrix fears, you'll find it's actually a pretty liberating thing to wear — and vinyl coats are set to be huge for autumn winter

WINTER COATS-FAUX FUR

Faux fur coats are one of those winter trends that will always be around in one form or another. Take style tips from MIU MIU and wear your fur fun and flirty.

WINTER COATS- CLASSIC WOOL COAT

Darling the one coat that is a must have is a classic wool coat. Therefore if you choose a pea coat style , a wool trench or a shorter car coat or duffel you must have at least one from this category. For the most classic coat I love Balmain.

WINTER COATS IN CONCLUSION

Darlings investing in a classic winter coat might mean buying a black, dark blue or grey wool three quarter length coat. However what I would like to say is you have a lot more options. While I am the first one to say you need a classic coat , you also can supplement your wardrobe. Ultimately you end will up with a wardrobe that gives you a selection of winter coats. Therefore my few rules are buy quality, take care of your coats, and rotate your garments. Shop the items I have selected and make your choices before you get caught out in the cold .
