Dahhlings I'm now ready to look back at the past year. Therefore with this in mind I'm looking first at those women who stood out for their style.Who is the one woman who is the best dressed woman of 2018. Moreover I really have put a lot of effort into considering the women who would receive this amazing distinction.......hmmmm ( that's me deep in thought). How do I go about choosing the best dressed woman of the year.
THE BEST DRESSED WOMAN OF 2018
2018 has been an amazing year for celebrity fashion. When considering the best dressed woman , I thought about who had the biggest impact on fashion . However I saw one individual an American actress join the royal family, and perfect the image of a modern royal. How could I look any further, and with much reverence for all those I considered , one woman stood out above the rest.
THE DUCHESS OF SUSSEX
Here is an accolade to the Americans in the crowd that finally have a legitimate American member of the Royal Family. In the first place I expect you readers to have some historical references , so If I go off when you don't know history, bare with me . Certainly we did have the Duchess of Windsor , but her reputation was more than a little tarnished .
Therefore it is Meghan Markle that reigns supreme as the American Duchess and
BEST DRESSED WOMAN OF THE YEAR
2018 has, without a doubt, been the year of Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex. When Meghan said I do and joined the British Royal family she arrived with her own style in tact. When we cast our eyes back to when Princess Diana embarked on her royal sartorial journey , we saw a young woman evolve and develop a personal style. However this was not the case with Meghan , a more mature woman who had walked Hollywood's red carpets.
Her style always was, and remains, polished and sophisticated. But she gives her look an undone and modern edge that is new for a British royal. Furthermore she loves wearing of-the-moment designers like Brock Collection, Brandon Maxwell and Gabriella Hearst. In addition she chooses sharp tailored suits or teaming an otherwise smart ensemble with a messy bun. As well as this, she promotes sustainability, she has worn her fair share of affordable labels.
When looking for inspiration from the Duchess look carefully at the simplicity of the silhouette. Moreover when being inspired by Meghan less is often more . When summing up the style of Meghan Markle one thing comes to mind Givenchy . The duchess chose the house of Givenchy for her wedding dress and thus endorsed a design philosophy. Although Hubert Givenchy is gone, the fashion house he created continues with his design aesthetics. It is these aesthetics that give Meghan Markle her style . Givenchy had three key principles of design that have served him well and sum up the style of the Duchess of Sussex.
no. 1: fashion begins with fabric
no. 2: fashion should liberate women
no. 3: simplicity is key
Want to dress like Markle? Embrace tailoring, timeless shapes and add a hint of sparkle.
Oscar de la Renta gown
On their tour of Austrailia, Meghan debuted a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta gown that was covered in birds. This voluminous creation was different from her previous royal tour dresses, which were more fitted. She stood tall in a pair of Aquazzura pumps and wore a Birks ring.
Here darlings this 1950's inspired gown is out of the norm for the Duchess . Furthermore we usually she Meghan in simple , tailored dresses that have a fitted silhouette . However what creates personal style is the ability to carry off a surprise. When considering Evening wearing something fabulous is always best. What would the best dressed woman of the year wear ? In this case the best dressed woman choose well.
Emilia Wickstead
While attending a Memorial service in New Zealand , Meghan donned a chic Emilia Wickstead 'Bespoke' black dress. The royal accessorized with her favourite Manolo Blahnik BB pumps, Jimmy Choo 'J Box' clutch and a sweet black beret.
Oh relax it is a memorial service , she's allowed to wear black. Certainly wearing black as a royal is reserved for memorials, remembrance ceremonies and funerals. However it has been noted that since Meghan wearing black in the daytime has been tolerated.
When looking for inspiration from Meghan , make sure you put your own spin on it. In fact you're not a Duchess governed by rules of dress and protocol so be creative. I've chosen my interpretations on this look !
Brandon Maxwell
The Sussex's attended the "Your Commonwealth" Youth Challenge reception at Marlborough House in London, UK, Meghan was daring ,wearing a yellow sleeveless dress by Brandon Maxwell.
Certainly bright colors are the professional uniform of the Queen.
Queen Elizabeth II can often be spotted in vibrant coats and matching hats. Wearing hats to formal occasions is part of royal protocol, but wearing bright colors is a specialty of the queen's for a reason. According to her daughter-in-law Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, her penchant for vivid outfits is more than just a fashion statement.
"She needs to stand out for people to be able to say 'I saw the queen'," she said in the Smithsonian Channel documentary "The Queen at 90." "Don't forget that when she turns up somewhere, the crowds are two, three, four, 10, 15 deep, and someone wants to be able to say they saw a bit of the queen's hat as she went past."
Givenchy
However you look at it this is a stunning look . Moreover Meghan Markle’s stunning choice of silhouette at British Fashion Awards because she officially debuted the style of the season: a one-shoulder dress.
Appearing on-stage at the Royal Albert Hall to present Givenchy designer Clare Waight Keller with the British Designer of the Year Womenswear accolade, Meghan opted for a full-length black-column velvet gown by her go-to creator.
As we know by now, Meghan has worn Givenchy several times since selecting the designer to create her off-the-shoulder wedding gown in May
From Christopher Kane to Victoria Beckham and ASOS, there are plenty of options out there right now.
