MIU MIU

Miu Miu is the brand I have chosen as one of my favorites of F/W 2017-18. Darlings those of you who follow this blog know I love glamour. Therefore I could not resist adding this brand as my choice for favorite labels this fall. In fact designer Miuccia Prada said of this collection "It's about the madness of glamour, in front of an uncertain future" and then added “and I am getting really interested in so many kinds of beauty.” Of course we can hear the words of the designer but fashion is a visual medium so we need to see the collection. First I would like to give a brief history of this the brand.

MIU MIU A BRIEF HISTORY

Since its debut in 1993 Miu Miu is a label about expression and creativity. Named after the nickname given to the creative director and descendant of the Italian fashion house, Miuccia Prada. Miu Miu was established as more colorful and avant-garde than its sister brand. Since ,Prada was at its most minimalist, Miu Miu offered a counterpoint: a sensual, rebellious take on dressing-up.

Early shows were staged in New York, London and Milan. Even so the world of this label didn't come together until the house first showed in Paris in 2006. First and fore most the brand embraced both couture savoir-faire and refined experimentalism. Miuccia Prada. gives elegance and sophistication a new and twisted meaning. Therefore diverse inspirations, play on masculine and feminine, historic references and a modern vision comes together.

Miu Miu’s communication strategy is inspired by its design point of view. Its groundbreaking advertising campaigns with cutting-edge photographers are looked forward to each season.
More than just ad campaigns, the campaign artwork adds nuance and subtext to the collections. Above all else the depth and variety conveys the complex layers of the Miu Miu woman. The attempt is to define a fluid,even contradictory vision of modern femininity.

Miu Miu F/W 2017 Advertising Campaign

The latest campaign for Miu Miu, Fall/Winter 2017 is by photographer Alasdair McLellan. He collages New Orleans landscapes and landmarks, from the dripping bayou to the august Preservation Hall .While you can't hear the jazz it is present in these shots. Further more these splintered images of glamour: brightly-colored faux furs,and feathered dropwaist dresses, impose contemporary shapes and materials on past times.

MIU MIU THE COLLECTION

Miuccia Prada cited the madness of glamour for her autumn/winter 2017 collection. Therefore the madness of an invitation covered in lilac curly faux fur was not lost on her guests. She didn’t stop at upholstering the invitation, step into her show venue there was stuff plastered everywhere. Moreover this fur was on the walls, on the seating, even the entire staircase was covered in it. Since I wasn't present I didn't experience the full effect of faux fur heaven, but did get it from the tape of the show.

She certainly upped the glamour factor when it came to the clothes. Since this is Miu Miu, it’s never as straightforward as a party dress. However we see some lovely frocks fit for a party. In my opinion Miuccia Prada shows creativity, artistry and vision.

First are these coats , fuzzy in teddy bear fur or blue mohair with gargantuan fabulous faux-fur collars. At the same time are these transparent raincoats which would be ideal for Vancouver ( with the last three days of rain). In addition over sized plaid and kitsch prints adorn 70's knit vests and sweater sets. Similarly these knits give a good vibe geek look. Meanwhile everything is delivered with furry baker-boy hats, I’m-famous sunglasses or sparkling diamante necklaces.Shoes were also jewelled with stonking brooches or otherwise, yes, more faux fur.

Ultimately, these are clothes that make you feel good. As a matter of fact , this collection is fearless in it's originality and it's ability to evoke a sense of fun, frivolity and festivity. Therefore I am delighted to present it here and hope that you too can see it to share in these feelings .
