FASHION FRIDAYS
Henceforth I will be publishing a new post every week Fashion Fridays, giving a review of fashion news. As well as any Fashion Fridays info I feel like sharing for your knowledge and enjoyment.
Here in Vancouver darlings Fall has hit with a force , cold , dark and of course raining . Of course with the change of seasons comes the dreaded SAD ( seasonal affected disorder ). Since all of us can be affected by this, my first post here is a list of things you can do to alleviate the doldrums. In no way do I tend to lessen the severity of SAD .
FASHION FRIDAYS ; Tips to Ease Your Winter SAD Symptoms
Tips to Ease Your Winter SAD Symptoms . First darlings the list below came from a mental health website and was prepared by mental health professionals. However I would like to add to this list, and that is for us fashion lovers. Henceforth try not to wear too much black, choose a bright colored scarf for when you do wear black. Second wear brighter colors in general and incorporate summer items into your wardrobe. |
- Spend more time outdoors during the day
- Try to arrange the spaces you spend time in to maximize sunlight exposure
- Keep curtains open during the day
- Trim tree branches or hedges that may be blocking some of the light from getting into your home
- Move furniture so that you sit near a window or, if you exercise indoors, set up your exercise equipment by a window
- Install skylights and add lamps
- Build physical activity into your lifestyle preferably before SAD symptoms take hold. Physical activity relieves stress, builds energy and increases both your physical and mental well-being and resilience
- Make a habit of taking a daily noon-hour walk, particularly if you commute to school or work in the dark hours of the day
- When all else fails, try a winter vacation in sunny climates—if the pocketbook and work schedule allow. Keep in mind that the symptoms will recur after you return home
- Try to resist the carbohydrate and sleep cravings that come with SAD

FASHION FRIDAYS; THE EMMY AWARDS
Now most of are getting our wardrobes together for the more serious days of work that come with the fall. As well as getting the kids ready for school , others are putting on their glad rags to strut the red carpet. Surprisingly I actually saw the Emmy Awards and I must say I was pleasantly surprised . Last Monday night the Emmy's took place under the direction on Lorne Michaels from Saturday Night Live. Furthermore Michaels brought along a lot of the talent from SNL to make for a fun show.
However the real show appeared on the red carpet. Since I'm not a huge T.V. watcher (except for my new addiction MSNBC), my Emmy awards experience is all about the dresses. Therefore for darlings here are my top 4 red carpet looks, and an option if you want to channel these beauties. I've found more reasonable options to achieve these great looks.
#1 Tracee Ellis Ross
in Valentino Haute Couture and Repossi.
#2 Penelope Cruz
in Chanel Haute Couture.
#3 Sarah Paulson
in Oscar de la Renta Spring 2019 and Tiffany & Co.
#4 Thandie Newton
in Brandon Maxwell.
FASHION FRIDAYS ; FUN BOOTS
When reviewing my work of this week, I thought this is my second chance to look at fun boots for the fall. Certainly fall has arrived here in Vancouver , colder and lots of rain the last few days. Therefore sweeties get ready and make sure you're not left without some fabulous fun boots for fall and winter . Check my post from earlier this week and look at these additional boots .
FASHION FRIDAYS; "MARIA BY CALLAS " OPENS THIS FALL
First I want you all to know that I love a good aria , and no one sang one better than Maria Callas. The film "Maria by Callas " had a premier at Tiff ( Toronto International Film Festival ) last week.
For the first time, 40 years after her death, the most famous opera singer ever tells her own story – in her own words. Featuring previously unknown footage, unseen photographs, personal Super 8 films, private live recordings, intimate letters and rare behind-the scenes archival footage for the first time in color .
What I would like to stress is that as well as being a legendary diva , Maria Callas was an amazing fashion diva. Therefore as I have done in the past I will cover Maria Callas in one of my upcoming fashion icon posts. However I encourage all fashionistas, fashion students and lovers of style to watch for "Maria by Callas " in your local theaters . In addition stayed tuned to this spot for more FASHION FRIDAYS.
