FALL WEDDING ATTIRE

Whenever I think of fall I do not automatically think of a Fall Wedding .While hopefully we have a few weeks of good weather left, fall is quickly coming. In fact I'm writing this post because I recently received a wedding invitation for a wedding this fall. Since we usually think of Summer Weddings , dressing for a Fall Wedding is not so different. Certainly you may need a wrap or coat.Whatever you wear, wear it well. Hence what I'm writing about here, is how to be the best dressed guest at that wedding.

BEST DRESSED GUEST AT A FALL WEDDING

Of course being vain we would all like to receive this honor , of best-dressed guest. However there is only one best dressed guest , excluding of course the wedding party. However being best dressed is also about confidence, personal style, and superior styling.

For example we were all awed when the lovely Amal Clooney arrived at the Royal Wedding , this past summer. Furthermore, Almal Clooney was arguably the best-dressed at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding .

The international human rights lawyer wore a custom, mustard Stella McCartney dress with a matching hat and veil by Stephen Jones. She completed her glamorous look with a gold clutch, heels by Gianvito Rossi and stunning teardrop earrings from Lorraine Schwartz. Although we can't all have the resources of Mrs. Clooney we can still be the best dressed.

HOW TO DRESS THE PART

How you put across the best dressed image is done with choice of clothing of course. But it's also done with fit, style , poise and appropriateness. For this reason choose a dress that is appropriate, Dress The Part. Therefore a well fitting day dress like Amal's is appropriate for an afternoon wedding. Moreover a hat is also fitting for an afternoon event. While this look would not be appropriate for an evening formal event.

Whenever deciding what to wear, read the invitation carefully. In the first place, the bride tells you what she wants you to wear. For this reason the invitation will say anything from beach wedding to black tie. It's how you interrupt the brides instructions that will make you the best dressed.

What to Wear to a Daytime Fall Wedding

Daytime weddings are always less formal than evening events. While you won't want to be utterly informal (unless the wedding couple is clear that that's their preference), you won't want to wear a gown or tuxedo. In fall choose darker colored clothing . Since being the best dressed guest is our objective , always take time to style yourself. For example hair, make-up, accessories and an attention to detail . Equally important, there are no hard set rules, except for don't wear white.

What to Wear to an Evening Black-Tie Optional Fall Wedding

Evening weddings are typically formal events. In some cases, they are very formal, with women in gowns and men in tuxedos. For black-tie optional events, women should avoid beads, sequins, and sparkles; black is appropriate but white is not (as it may be seen as competition for the bride's wedding dress). Furthermore wearing dresses that are too short or overly sexy may not be the best idea.

In my opinion black is a great look for an evening fall wedding. Surprisingly I don't usually endorse all black but evening wear is a different matter.
